FORMER FULTON CITY EMPLOYEE INDICTED BY GRAND JURY

The Nov. 14 session of the Grand Jury in Fulton County resulted in a number of indictments, one of which indicted a former financial officer and Administrative Assistant to the City Manager of Fulton. 

Whitney Rogers was indicted by the Grand Jury for KRS 514.030, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, $10,000 or more but less than $1 million. 

The Grand Jury determines whether or not to formally charge someone with a felony, which would require the person to stand trial.

Grand jurors hear evidence and decide if there is enough evidence to support an indictment, may subpoena witnesses to testify and produce documents, and nine of 12 grand jurors must agree to return an indictment.

Fulton City Manager Mike Gunn provided a press release to The Current this morning, Nov. 15, stating that In September of 2024, officials of the City of Fulton discovered financial discrepancies in the City’s accounting. 

According to the press release, these discrepancies were reported to the Kentucky State Police for investigation and on Thurs., Nov. 14, the Grand Jury of Fulton County indicted a former City employee, Whitney Rogers, for multiple charges arising out of these discrepancies. 

The City will continue to cooperate with the Kentucky State Police and the Commonwealth Attorney’s office as this matter develops, according to Gunn.

In the news story published in the Sept. 25 edition of The Current, about the Fulton City Commission meeting held Sept. 23, it was reported the Commission adjourned from open public session into closed executive session, and upon a return to open session, then took action by accepting the resignation of Whitney Rogers, who had held the position of financial officer and Administrative Assistant to the City Manager .
