SPECIAL CALLED SESSION SCHEDULED BY OBION COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Obion County Schools Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., the announcement made following a budget workshop session May 14. The meeting will take place at the Board of Education Office in Union City. On Monday, May 12, the Obion County Budget committee met prior to the Obion County Commission's meeting. At that Budget committee meeting, County Commissioner Rob Holman explained his reasoning in not supporting additional funding requested by the Obion County Board of Education/School System. Following a motion and second, the budget committee voted to support Holman's recommendation to be forwarded to the full County Commission, to provide the same amount budgeted the previous year to the school system, with no increase as had been requested by the School Board. The issue will go before the full County Commission for consideration.
