AREA OBITUARIES – Tom Parks

James Thomas “Tom” Parks, age 98, a lifelong resident of the Ruthville community, passed away on Sun., Jan. 4, 2026, at the Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, Tenn.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1927, in Weakley County, Tenn., to the late Herman Hunt Parks and Zora Faye Harwood Parks.
He was a faithful member of Ruthville Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Butts Feed Mill. He spent his entire life in the Ruthville area, where he was well known and respected.
He is survived by four sons, Edward (Elizabeth) Parks, of Martin, Tenn., Thomas (Vicky) Parks, of South Fulton, Tenn., Steve (Debra) Parks, of Martin, Tenn., and Ronald (Pam) Parks, of Martin, Tenn.; one daughter, Janice (Larry) Clark, of Sharon, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verbena Parks, who passed away on March 24, 2025; one sister, Laverne Parks; and two brothers, Herman Lee Parks and Charles Henry Parks.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wed. January 7, 2026 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Sandy Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
