Banana Festival’s ‘Best’ memories sought
With the covid-19 pandemic restrictions prompting a cancellation of this year’s Banana Festival in the Twin Cities, The Current would like to take our readers on a stroll down memory lane.
Will you share with us a favorite memory from festivals past? Your memory doesn’t have to be lengthy. Just a few sentences sharing your own “Best of the Fest”.
Here is what we need from you.
We are asking our readers to tell us your favorite entertainer from one of the festivals. Was it a rocker or a crooner? Full band or solo act? Do you remember the year? What made that certain headliner your favorite?
Through the years, we have seen some great events take place. What was your favorite and why? Was it the banana split eating contest? Maybe it was the street dance. Was it the introduction of the group of South American young people, affectionately known as the “Amigos”? Or maybe it was a special float in the parade.
Then, on Sept. 23 and Sept. 30, in our print and online editions of The Current, we will publish those memories. Share a photo as well, if you’d like. We will publish that, too.
Oh! and here’s the icing on the cake...or....the custard on the pudding...you could have your name drawn for $50 in Chamber Bucks, to spend the same as cash, at Twin Cities businesses.
Please share a memory about your favorite festival entertainment and/or your favorite festival event!
September is Banana Festival time and we don’t want to let 2020 rob us of enjoying the festival, looking back as we look ahead to 2021.
Send your memories for your “Best of the Fest”, via email to Benita@TheCurrent.press, with Best of the Fest in the subject line; fax the memory to 270-472-1129; or come by our office at 214 Lake St. in Fulton and share it with us. Our mailing address is The Current, P.O. Box 1200, Fulton, Ky. 42041. Include your name, town of residence and contact number along with your shared memory, on each entry.
All submissions will be entered for a chance at two drawings to be held from all the memories submitted, for two $50 Chamber Bucks prizes, one to be drawn on Sept. 22 and one to be drawn on Sept. 29 sponsored by Fulton Tourism Commission.
Be sure to watch The Current for winners!
